Public education in Winter Springs is provided by the Seminole County School District, an organization that prides itself on providing excellent academic opportunities for students. The district manages more than 70 schools in total, and seven of these are located in Winter Springs. The Winter Springs campuses are: ACS Grove, Highlands Elementary School, Keeth Elementary School, Rainbow Elementary School, Winter Springs Elementary School, Indian Trails Middle School and Winter Springs High School. College options include Seminole Community College, Rollins College, University of Phoenix at Orlando and University of Central Florida.
Winter Springs' most prominent feature is the modern and elegant Winter Springs Town Center. Designed around the new urban concept, the center features apartments, condominiums, shopping venues, restaurants and office space. With gorgeous architecture, pedestrian-friendly walkways, street fountains and benches, Winter Springs Town Center is a neighborhood designed for living, working and playing.
The central location of Winter Springs allows residents to take advantage of the various entertainment, recreational and cultural venues throughout the peninsula. Close to home is the Lake Jesup Wilderness Area, a wetlands of approximately 490 acres. The Wilderness is used primarily for hiking, horseback riding and exploring. Orlando, 15 miles south, is a recognized travel destination and home to SeaWorld, Universal Studios, Walt Disney World, Orlando Museum of Art and many other popular attractions. Residents can also easily reach Daytona Beach, Jacksonville and St. Petersburg.
The climate of Winter Springs is characterized by warm, moist summers and mild winters. In July, temperatures range from lows of about 71 to highs of about 92, while winter temperatures vary between 47 and 70. Annual rainfall averages 51 inches, with half of this falling in June, July, August and September.
